Remote Learning (Covid-19)

These are sam­ples of the Head Start and Ear­ly Head Start cur­ricu­lum activ­i­ties that the teach­ers are work­ing on with the chil­dren and fam­i­lies dur­ing the COVID-19 clo­sure of the pro­gram. The teach­ers are also read­ing sto­ries with the chil­dren through var­i­ous vir­tu­al plat­forms such as Zoom, What’s App and Face­time.

Dear Fort George HeadStart/EarlyHeadStart and 3K/UPK Com­mu­ni­ty, 

Mon­day March 16, 2020 the Agency made the deci­sion to close our HeadStart/EarlyHeadStart and 3K/UPK cen­ter based pro­grams in accor­dance with the Depart­ment of Edu­ca­tion (DOE) clo­sure and NYC Depart­ment of Health (DOH) rec­om­men­da­tion; due to the coro­n­avirus pan­dem­ic. 

Fort George will reopen under the guid­ance of the New York City Depart­ment of Health and the New York City Depart­ment of Edu­ca­tion. 

Before we reopen the schools will under­go exten­sive clean­ing, in accor­dance with the CDC guide­lines. 

Our top pri­or­i­ty is the health and safe­ty of our chil­dren, staff and fam­i­lies. Effec­tive March 23, 2020 each fam­i­ly will receive com­mu­ni­ca­tions from their child’s teach­ers regard­ing the set­up of our Agency’s remote/distance learn­ing process. Also fam­i­lies will receive com­mu­ni­ca­tions from their fam­i­ly advo­cate. 

We are com­mit­ted to sup­port­ing every­one through this clo­sure and look for­ward to reopen­ing. If you have addi­tion­al ques­tions, please direct them to your super­vi­sor.
